Medical Exercise

If you are experiencing pain or injury and are unable to return to your prior functional level, PTOSI’s Medical Exercise program can help get you back to doing the activities you love to do. Our program works well for people prior to and after surgery as well and is beneficial whether you have a newly diagnosed injury or a more chronic condition.

Your therapist or physician may recommend medical exercise to provide you with a structured physical reconditioning program needed to prepare you for a successful return to your activities. You may receive individualized manual therapy to address the major mechanical problems identified at your evaluation prior to beginning this program.

What does the program entail?

Your physical therapist will evaluate your condition and work with you to establish goals specific to your needs and develop a treatment plan.

PTOSI’s Medical Exercise program is designed and staffed by physical therapy professionals extensively trained in treating injuries affecting the neck, back, and extremities. Components of treatment include exercises to increase flexibility, strength, endurance, and coordination, as well as body mechanics and education and practice specific to your activities. Periodic reassessments will be done frequently to chart your progress and adjust treatment as needed.

How much time is involved?

Participants attend one to three days per week for approximately one-half to one hour each visit. The program is completed when you are able to continue your program on your own. Your active and consistent participation is essential for treatment success.

Will my insurance cover this program?

Our staff will work with your physician’s office to obtain prior authorization from your insurance company. Anyone can participate in this program, whether your are newly injured or have a chronic condition.

If you have any questions regarding treatment options, please contact the location most convenient for you. We would be happy to answer your questions, and/or schedule a consultation for you.
